Maturity Has Nothing To Do With Age
Today I was rendered (and for the first time) speechless.
It seemed like a normal day in the begining, the department was quiet as everybody was busy at their desk, working on grades, calculating and re-calculating to be safe… I happened to be using a pencil.
So when I was done, I raised my head and asked “Does anybody have an eraser? I’m done blue-ing the grades, I just need to erase the pencil marks.“… and the eldest teacher in the department, almost approaching 60 says that she has one.
As I’m getting up to go to her, to go get the eraser myself, to show that I respect her elderly self and that she didn’t have to come all the way over to my desk…
She throws the eraser at me… AT ME.

I was speechless… nothing to say… In my head, I was like “What the f*ck is wrong with you!?!“… but I guess I’m too respectable or something like that?
Oh, and what annoyed me more was all the other teachers’ reactions! They laughed! One of them said “a7san!”… What did I ever do to you? And you can’t see that the oldest one here is the most immature?
All I could say was “I was coming to get it myself! Didn’t you see me get up?!”
Her reply? “You weren’t supposed to get up, you could’ve just raised your hands up and caught it!”
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!?!
I’m the type of person that doesn’t tolerate stupidity or immaturity, that’s why I teach high school kids, they already have a sufficient language bank and they have a good enough level of maturity, not completely dumb in english and not completely childish… So I know what to expect basically… But to have the TEACHERS act that way was shocking!
I don’t think I forgot a single blogger/friend/relative that I haven’t smsed! I wanted to know what the true reaction anybody else would give, and almost all of them were “wtf?!”s…
As DR and Yara said, it’s sad that these people are supposed to be the teachers of the future generation, “Murabiyat Al-Mustaqbal“…
