Haaaaalleeeeelujaah!!
Tomorrow I Go Back To WORK!
And I’m friggin’ happy about it!!
Man, i missed work so much! I mean, true, i had fun, travelled, blogged, read new books, had relaxing “me-time”… AND enjoyed a birthday! but still!
I miss teasing, torturing and tormenting students for no reason! (when i read this sentence to mom, she said: “Waayyy, el ejram ekhare3!” wahahahahahahahahahahaaaa!)
But i really really do miss work, and it’s not just the whole torture part (even if it does have its advantages).. I miss the action in class, those unexpecting students who think school is supposed to be boring and that whatever you learn there is unnessecary for real life.. that it’s just going in, getting marks, getting a piece of paper that allows them to go to college, and that’s it! I love it when i surprise them by the many many ways language can be used (other than swearing :p) and how the place of a few punctuation marks can make a world of a difference when it comes to meaning…
Here’s the (maybe) slightly crappy part.. there’ve been changes in my school that i haven’t experienced before and i’ve only heard from other teachers.. (who don’t really view teaching the way i do.. they hate it actually)… i’m going to teach muqararat girls (credits system students), and the other teachers are threatening me, saying they might give me a class of “Repeaters”, girls who may be 4 to 5 years younger than me, who just can’t seem to pass English…
Now, I’d accept a teaching challenge anytime, just throw it at me and i’ll fix it, throw it back at u harder and possibly injure ur whole face in one go… but don’t, and i mean DON’T, tell me it’s going to be hell and that all of the students are completely dumb.. haven’t you ever thought that maybe YOU’RE the crappy teacher? Nobody’s stupid, either they’re strong is other aspects and just not that good at language, or they’re just acting stupid so you don’t make an effort and use the “oh, she’s just plain dumb and useless” excuse…
I know, i know, there are girls who just don’t want to study, but i really believe that there HAS to be a way to encourage or motivate them to learn, and getting them to love language is easy.. heck, they use language when they gossip about language teachers!
So anyway, it’s either “Repeaters” or “Graduates” and i hate being in the middle of a useless argument… Either they let me teach repeaters cos the older and more experienced teachers teach the graduates.. OR the more experienced teachers should teach the repeaters cos they need the help and I (the innocent, new and unexperienced.. which in older teacher language= dumb.. grrrrr!!) should teach graduates since they have a big enough vocabulary (so i’m the useless one in class now) to help them pass and leave high school forever…
So yea, 2moro i go and check on everything:
… how my classes are going to be (the result of the whole “repeaters” or “graduates” debate)
… clean up my desk and get my little useful teacher-y stuff aligned and shiny (crap, i’m such a geek lol)
… buy new red pens since i finished the three ones i used for correcting during last semester alone!
… buy a new “daftar ta7theer”.. aahhh those beautiful plain pages of organization :p
… NOT buy candy for the bowl on my table for students… Ramadan is coming…
and that’s about it… i should go to bed early now lol… i think that’s the only thing i’ll miss! SLEEP! :p
