Come on boys and girls, it’s time for a new “Introducing:…” post!

In today’s post, I’m introducing lap-tapping guitar player, Erik Mongrain… BTW, “lap-tapping” isn’t an adjective or a way of praising him, he really DOES lap-tap (and just in case some of you are dimwits or the name of the technique itself isn’t self-explanatory), it’s a technique where you place the guitar on your lap and start tapping on it..

Here’s a short biography taken from our trusty Wiki:

      “Erik Mongrain taught himself guitar at the age of 14. As a boy he was mostly interested in sports, but picked up an interest in the guitar and began to teach himself to play by ear. Erik started out playing the electric guitar, but developed an interest in classical and acoustic guitar after hearing the work of Johann Sebastian Bach. Erik taught himself to read music, and began composing.

      Erik Mongrain was inspired early on by the work of Metallica, Jimi Hendrix, and Kurt Cobain. When he was 18, Erik heard the work of guitarist Don Ross, and he said “This was a new revelation to me. I finally found my niche.” After that, Erik was heavily influenced by the work of Michael Hedges. Erik also began to experiment with a technique known as lap tapping, in which the player lays the guitar across their lap, and taps the strings on the fret board with both hands.”He really is pretty amazing (and sort of maybe kinda almost bordering on hot cute (?)), i saw him play for the first time when my cousin Z gave me a link to this video:

so i downloaded three tracks, Air Tap (the one he’s performing above), Fusions and Timeless (which i think are both much better than Air Tap).. here’s the video for Timeless as a compensation since Boxstr is in the middle of maintenance (which means i can’t upload the tracks for you to download *sighs*)…

The next day the girl came skipping home FROM school. “Mommy, Mommy,” She yelled, “we were saying the alphabet today, and all the other kids could only say it to D, but I said it to G. See? A,b, c, d, e, f, g!”

“Very good,” said her mother.

“Is it because I’m blonde, Mommy?”

“Yes, Honey, it’s because you’re blonde.”

The next day the girl came skipping home FROM school. “Mommy, Mommy,” she yelled, “we were in gym class today, and when we showered, all the other girls had flat chests, but I have these!” And she lifted her tank top to reveal a pair of 36Cs.

“Very good,” said her embarrassed mother.

“Is it because I’m blonde, mommy?”

“No, Honey, it’s because you’re 25.“

It’s 7:22 AM… and i know i’m not a morning person…

BUT today’s an exception because it’s Graduation Day at my school… i don’t know if all of u know this, but i TEACH at the same school i actually STUDIED at.. so it’s nice to see students graduating on the same stage i graduated on 4 and a half years ago… *sighs*

 The best thing about this graduation day is that I’ve been chosen specifically to stand with a group of teachers at the main reception table, we take the invitation cards, check that all the people who have to be there are actually there and just to basically look welcoming and hot :p

Hence choosing the Hotness that is me :p   *i can’t help being a Leo, my ego’s too much for me lol*

but *seriously* the best thing about this graduation day is that i’m going to be there when they call out my cousin’s name… it’s just so seriously cute that my cousin’s graduating high school, she’s always been there when i needed her and has a big brain on her shoulders which helps because she’s more mature than her peers… PLUS, we share hotness genes :p

so this post is dedicated to her…
