The Much-Awaited Conspiracy Theories
This is from a magazine called BLINK, and this article was written by Uri Geller, these are the parts that interested me. Hope you like them, too:
When it comes to conspiracy theories, you either bought the Official Version or a one-way ticket to Palookaville. It didn’t matter if the Official Version was a blatant lie- like the thing about a lone gunman killing Kennedy, when anyone who saw the Zapruder video knew the president had been hit by two bullets traveling in different directions.
They told us that George W. Bush was legally the US president, even though he’d plainly lost the vote. They told us that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction even though they’d been bombing his country for more than a decade. And, finally, they told a lie that the majority of Europeans and Americans rejected: that the Iraqi people loved them for liberating their country.
The mind control has stopped working. We’ve woken up from our trance. Suddenly, instead of believing the Official Version, we’re prepared to believe anything else. Within five days of a horrific video screening on Fox News, depicting the slaughter of US citizen Nick Berg by Arab terrorists, detailed conspiracy theories were competing online. Investigators listed at least 50 glaring reasons why the Official Version of Berg’s death was a lie: his orange jump suit was US military issue; his white plastic chair was identical to ones used at Abu ‘3raib jail; Berg’s scream had been dubbed onto the tape.
What do you believe? The Golden Rule is one I’ve used in paranormal research for more than thirty years… Keep an open mind, but not so open that your brain falls out! And above all, never accept the Official Version.
Global Warming is a hoax. Michael Crichton, the sci-fi writer behind Jurrasic Park and ER delivered a scathing speech at the prestigious CalTech last year in which he claimed the public had been left so fearful by the Cold War and so in awe of scientists that they would believe anything, so long as it was terrifying enough. Crichton wasn’t talking about the market for his own thriller- he was accusing green researchers of faking the evidence for eco-disaster. There’s no proof of global warming, the novelist insisted: it’s all about normal fluctuations in climate. That’s a unique conspiracy theory, because it actually backs up the US government’s policy: keep burning oil and electricity, citizens, because there’s no proof of rising sea levels, holes in the ozone layer or freak weather patterns. Another sci-fi novelist, Kurt Vonnegut, has a simple theory on why governments refuse to act on the eco catastrophe: we’re all fossil fuel addicts, he says. And we’re about to go cold turkey.
Osama Bin Laden is dead… or in a US jail. Afghan patriots on a suicide mission killed Osama Bin Laden and his deputy, the one-eyed Mullah Omar, 40 days after 9-11: the men and three of their heirs were killed by bullets in the back, according to China’s ZhongZin Wang news source. Survivors of the US assault on Al-Qaeda’s Tora Bora hide-out said a 52 missile scored a direct hit on a cave complex housing Bin Laden and his closest aides, on 10 December 2002. All were killed. Despite these authoritative accounts, a rumor spread in March this year that Bin Laden had been taken by US special forces in Baluchistan, on the Kistan/Afghan border. With the US presidential elections due in November, cynics (and these days that means just about everybody) expect the Official Capture to occur this Autumn… about the same time that Saddam Hussein commits suicide in his cell.
(Whaddyamean, Saddam’s already been killed by over-zealous interrogation! What are you, some kind of conspiracy nut??)
