My Day
Even though almost all of u don’t really wanna hear about how my day went, I’m gonna tell it anyway… so…HA HA!
So, today, I went to see how my grades turned out, I was really confident that I’d get either an A or a B on both courses. So when I got there, I received a small early birthday gift from a dear dear friend of mine, and this really special part of the population of people I love knows who they are… so again, yes AGAIN, Thank You Very Very Much… I really love it, and I don’t care if it’s a “modest” gift, it’s exactly wat I need, and a great thing to remember you by. Of course, now all of u are expecting me to tell u wat this person got me… either that, or you’re waiting for me to tell you about my grades.
And I shall settle for the grade-telling, so HA HA again! :p
I got a B+ in both subjects, and my parents’ reactions were very VERY typical.
My dad did his “dad thing” where he says: “oh…zain…mabrook…” and that’s it.
And my mom does her “mom thing” where she says: “why not an A? or even an A-?” which can be annoying, but it’s somehow sorta cute. I might roll my eyes and say the usual: “mamaaaa…” but it’s still cute. Ok, now u think that I’m a weirdo. Good.
Wat else? wat else?….
Oh, and I went to the salon with my mom, then went back home to get ready for the traditional Wednesday get-together. Every Wednesday my aunts pick a place or one of their houses to have this get-together, so today it was the Muhalab Mall.
This is the only mall that I think didn’t get as much popularity as el Fanar, Sharg (it being sorta like the first big mujama3 made for gez.) or Marina Mall.
Remember when el Salmiya and Share3 el Ma6a3em were the major gezzing places in Kuwait? Of course, that was a looooooooooooooooooooong time ago and maybe some of u haven’t even started your gezzing careers when people went to gez there in the beginning :p
So, when I got there with my aunts, I tried to resist the wave of gelled heads and low slung jeans and the baggy i-wanna-be-a-Nelly-look-alike jerseys. Also, the I’m wearing-a-mini-skirt-but OH- there-are-also-pants-under-them trend, and the badly cut hair that oddly looks like it got trapped in a fan. The “malaqa” started as soon as we got there when we went to sit on a table near a fast-food place. So we sat there waiting for another empty table cos this one was only a 4 seater and we were 7 people, when the guys sitting on the table next to ours started to bother us. We sat there because one of the maids was tired of carrying one of our kids around the mall, so when she sat down and the guys heard us play with the baby, who’s named Hashim, they started bothering the maid by telling her that they wanted the baby. Here’s the following dialogue that happened:
Stupid Guy No. 1: “Yalla 3ad, 3a6eena el yahel…. Hashooooom… t3aal… tabe koollaaa?? (ya3ne kora bas in baby speech)
Maid: La, mayabe, shino hatha?!?!?
Stupid Guy No. 2: “6a3 hatheee..yabay el yahel agoolich, bas nabe nil3ab weyaaah…”
Me: (whispering to my oldest aunt): 3amete, gomay khal enghayer amakina, ez3aj oo hathol sij sij qilat adab… 3aina goweeya.. foog fe kaarase, ana badesh Fuddruckers, oo fe mukan hnak…”
My Oldest Aunt: (in a calm voice to Larry, Curly, and Mo) sij qilat adab, tet7areshon bil shaghala jedamna? Shwaya e7tarmo nafeskum, dar ma darkum 3awayel…”
Stupid Guy No. 1: (laughs like a cat on steroids) waaaaa hahahahha haaaiiiiiii…
Stupid Guy No. 3: “Eshda3waaaaaaa…”
Here we upped and leaved cos it was getting on our nerves. It’s not like they were trying to be nice guys and play with the kids, they were staring at us since we were all ladies going out and were obviously making fun of the maid and wanted to just get on everybody’s nerves.
Anyways, we eventually found the perfect places in Fuddruckers where we joined tables to make enough places for everyone, and then we enjoyed our meals, let the kids play for a bit, and then we went home.
Now, I’m typing this blog up for you in my PJs with all my mess on the bed next to mine that’s supposed to be my little brother’s, but of course, he doesn’t mind cos this is a great excuse to go sleep with his older brothers and he loves them. ![]()
Wat was I saying…. oh yea, the mess on the bed. Well, all that mess will be put into my suitcase, but it’ll be a shame since I put everything in nice proportions on the bed. Pants to one side, T-shirts on one side, Pajamas in one side, Underwear in one side, 7jabs in one side, Socks on one side, and even Bathroom supplies like body soap, body cream, face cleanser, tooth brush, tooth paste, a little make up in one of those tiny make up bags, aaaalll on one side.
Now, all I have to think about is wat else do I need? Of course, other than my knitting kit, paint ball gun, rubber chicken, Discovery Channel set of 10 DVDs…. hmmm….wat else do I need? Think with me people, I feel something’s missing….
*keeps thinking deep thoughts…*
